Kathmandu. The Kalimati Fruits and Vegetable Market Development Committee has today published the wholesale prices of various agricultural commodities. In today’s market, the prices of most vegetables and fruits remained at a normal level, while some seasonal vegetables, spices, and specific agricultural products were traded at relatively higher prices.

Today, large Nepali tomatoes were traded between Rs. 50 and Rs. 65 per kg, with an average price of Rs. 57.50. Large Indian tomatoes recorded an average price of Rs. 74, while small local tomatoes were traded at Rs. 26 and tunnel-produced tomatoes at Rs. 37.60.

In the potato category, red long potatoes were sold at an average price of Rs. 32.60 per kg, while red round potatoes were traded at Rs. 29.50. Dried Indian onions recorded an average price of Rs. 41.40, according to the committee.

Among green vegetables, local cauliflower was traded at an average price of Rs. 86.25 per kg, while cabbage was sold at Rs. 55 and carrots at Rs. 75. The average price of radish was Rs. 18.75. The average prices of mustard greens and spinach were Rs. 68.75 and Rs. 85 respectively. Green onions were sold at an average price of Rs. 110 per kg.

In seasonal vegetables and beans, peas pods were traded at an average price of Rs. 190 per kg. Butter beans (rajma) and flat beans both recorded an average price of Rs. 125, while soybean pods were sold at Rs. 138.75. Bitter gourd was traded at Rs. 46, bottle gourd at Rs. 76.67, ridge gourd at Rs. 68.75, and sponge gourd at Rs. 65.

Among mushroom varieties, shiitake mushrooms were the most expensive, with prices reaching Rs. 900 per kg. Button mushrooms were traded at Rs. 230, king oyster mushrooms at Rs. 310, and dundled mushrooms at Rs. 432.50.

In the fruit category, Fuji apples recorded an average price of Rs. 290 per kg, while Nepali bananas were sold at Rs. 190 per dozen. Lemons were traded at Rs. 210 per kg. Local litchi was sold at Rs. 240, while Indian litchi was priced at Rs. 290. Pomegranates recorded an average price of Rs. 410 per kg.

Among spices and other agricultural products, ginger was traded at an average price of Rs. 126 per kg. Dried chili was sold at Rs. 426.67, while green acchari chili recorded an average price of Rs. 326.67. Nepali dried garlic was priced at Rs. 167.50, and Chinese dried garlic at Rs. 212.50.

In the fish category, dried fish was sold at an average price of Rs. 900 per kg. Fresh Rohu fish was traded at Rs. 330, Bachuwa fish at Rs. 290, and Chhadi fish at Rs. 245.

Overall, today’s market showed stable pricing for most vegetables such as tomatoes, potatoes, onions, and other green vegetables. However, mushrooms, peas pods, green chili, dried chili, and certain fruits were traded at relatively higher prices. The daily market price report is expected to help farmers, traders, and consumers better understand market conditions and plan their buying and selling activities accordingly.
