Farmers who are set to harvest their paddy have been worried due to the untimely rain. Right after the Tihar festival, when farmers were busy harvesting their ripened crops, the rain that started on Tuesday has increased their concern.

Several farmers have complained that paddy reaped a day after Tihar has been submerged in the fields. In other parts of the country, farmers who had transplanted paddy in early Asar (June–July) were now harvesting. However, after reaping the crops, cloudy weather followed by rain has kept them apprehensive of losses.

This has not just affected the farmers' labor but also struck local agro tourism. Many tourists visit rural locations when it is paddy harvesting time to observe the process, experience village life, and participate in farm activities. But with continuous rain and waterlogged fields, tourist footfall for such farm experiences is likely to decline.

According to local farmers, paddy harvest season is also a suitable period for agro tourism. Villagers here have been hosting tourists traditionally at this period, involving them in fieldwork and offering cultural sessions like folk music and local cuisine in the evenings. However, bad weather has started to limit such activities.

Farmers say that if the climate remains stable in the coming years, there are chances of getting more revenue not only from agriculture but also from agro tourism.
